Mexican Flu

14 August 2009

On 11 June 2009 the World Health Organization (WHO) officially raised the pandemic alert level for the so-called Mexican Flu to phase six. This means that this particular strain of flu is now officially a pandemic. As has already been announced, Stenden university has taken steps to minimise the impact of the Mexican Flu virus on the university. At the moment the university is following the guidelines issued by the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM), which state that events involving large numbers of people can go ahead as long as RIVM hygiene guidelines and rules of conduct are followed. As things stand at the moment, the academic year can start as planned.
