Hello students, welcome to Stenden University of Applied Sciences
We would like to extend a hearty welcome to you, here at Stenden University of Applied Sciences. We are honoured to learn of your decision to study and thus develop your talents, but you have also decided to go and study abroad. With these two decisions the world is at your feet.
In the past decade, our university has developed into a global university. This
development started from the time we made programmes available that were exclusively
taught in English. In 2008 Stenden was formed as a result of a merger between CHN
university and Drenthe university. Stenden’s roots go back as far as 1845.
We have grown into a university with nine campus sites worldwide. Stenden University of Applied Sciences offers you an international, entrepreneurial and value-oriented environment. This is an
environment, conducive for development into citizens of the world. We offer educational
programmes to more than 11.000 students representing over 90 different cultural
backgrounds. These aspects are reflected in our university.
Aside from the fact that we would like you to feel at home in your studies, we find
it important that you feel at home outside of the university as well. Leeuwarden and
Emmen have a lot of places for entertainment, such as cinema’s, bars, theatre, etc. In
this guide you will find the information on these matters. If you have any questions,
please feel free to contact the Information and Registration Centre or the staff-members
of your study programme.
