State of Qatar 

progressive emirate in the Middle East, Qatar is part of the Arabian Peninsula. Bordered by Saudi Arabia and the Persian Gulf, this emirate has been inhabited by Persians for thousands of years.

Spread across 11,437 square kilometers, Qatar forms a peninsula that juts about 160 kilometers into the Persian Gulf. As per the geography of Qatar, summers are prevalent here from the month of June to September. The region experiences extreme heat and dryness, with temperatures exceeding even 55ºC. During winter months - November to May - temperatures are relatively cooler and the climate pleasurable.

Qatar gained independence from British rule on 3rd September, 1971. Since then, it has carved a niche of its own in the Middle Eastern region, declining an amalgamation into the United Arab Emirates or Saudi Arabia.
