Stenden was the result of the merger between CHN University Netherlands and Drenthe University on 1st January 2008.
Stenden has campus sites in Leeuwarden, Emmen, Groningen, Meppel, Assen, Doha (Qatar), Bangkok (Thailand), Port Alfred (South Africa) and Bali (Indonesia).
Enlargement courses
Stenden builts on its new concept of the New University to enlarge the current education programmes. New University is a collection of education, research and commercial activities. By bringing Hoger Education and Scientific Education, Stenden better meets the international standards.
Extended range of education
Over 11.000 students are studying and more than 1000 employees are currently working at Stenden. Stenden offers associate degrees, bachelor programmes and master programmes in the fields of (Service) Management, Education, Care, Economics and Engineering. Starting from April 2009, the range of education is being extended with three Scientific master programmes: International Communications Management, International Leisure and Tourism Management and International Service Industry Management.
Adventurous learning
The programmes of Stenden have a practical character. During the study, our students get familiair with the future work field. An example of this are our learning companies. In addition, Stenden has eleven lectors, amongst them are many professionals from the work field.
