About Stenden university
Stenden university was the result of the merger between CHN University Netherlands and Drenthe University on 1st January 2008.
Campus sites
Stenden university is an international university with campus sites in Leeuwarden, Emmen, Groningen, Meppel, Assen, Doha (Qatar), Bangkok (Thailand), Port Alfred (South Africa) and Bali. In 2009, Stenden opened a University in Berlin. This step forward helps to realise the ambition; a strong and international brand in higher and scientific education. With the realisation of Stenden University Berlin, Stenden is the only institute in the Netherlands who offers both Applied Science and Scientific education.
Enlargement courses
Stenden builts on its new concept of the New University to enlarge the current education programmes. New University is a collection of education, research and commercial activities. By bringing Hoger Education and Scientific Education, Stenden better meets the international standards.
Students and employees
Over 10.000 students are studying and more than 800 employees are currently working at Stenden university. The university offers 3 associate degrees, 19 bachelor programmes and 4 master programmes in the fields of (Service) Management, Education, Care, Economics and Engineering. Starting from April 2009, the range of education is being extended with three Scientific master programmes: International Communications Management, International Leisure and Tourism Management and International Service Industry Management.
Adventurous learning
The programmes of Stenden university have a practical character. During the study, our students get familiair with the future work field. An example of this are our learning companies. In addition, Stenden university has eleven lectors, amongst them are many professionals from the work field.
The logo
The swallow is chosen to be the logo of Stenden university. This bird is cosmopolitan, a traveller and indicates growth. Graduates find theirselves more and more in an international and intercultural environment. This demands graduates with a cosmopolitan attitude and an open mind to the world and towards people.
The name Stenden is powerful, which matches the character of a northern university and has a very international image.
