Broadening Knowledge, Opening Doors: The Stenden Honours Programme
The Honours Programme was developed in 2007 for students who want to and can do more than required by their regular programmes. The purpose of the programme is to offer students who excel in their undergraduate studies further training in the analytical skills required for their chosen disciplines. The aim is to develop the students’ analytical and synthesising skills, as well as their capacity to marshal ideas and arguments.
The Honours Programme is an intellectually rewarding and personally fulfilling experience: Intellectually, you’ll be challenged at higher levels in your Honours courses, as well as in your research project, than in your undergraduate degree programme. The research project enables you to focus on an area of particular interest and gives you the opportunity to contribute to the knowledge and broader debates in your discipline. The skills acquired during this period will enhance your future career prospects in a wide range of occupations in the public and private sectors and give you an edge over students with straight undergraduate pass degrees.
